Italian E-Invoice Viewer

Open the XML or P7M file of an Italian electronic invoice (fattura elettronica) and read it as a clean, printable invoice. Everything runs in your browser, so your invoices are never uploaded.

The viewer runs in your browser and needs JavaScript. Without it, you can read the invoices you received in the Fatture e Corrispettivi portal of the Agenzia delle Entrate.

Drop the invoice on this box or press Choose files: .xml, .xml.p7m or .zip, several at once if you like. Files are read in your browser only.

How to open an Italian e-invoice

Since 2019, invoices between Italian businesses go through the SdI, the exchange system of the Italian tax agency, as XML files in the FatturaPA format. Opened in a browser or a text editor, such a file is a long run of tags. Drop it on the tool, or press Choose files, and it shows as an invoice: seller and customer, number and date, lines, VAT summary, total and payment details, with the IBAN and the due date. Open several files at once, or a ZIP of invoices, and each one shows in a list on the side.

Signed .xml.p7m files

Many invoices arrive digitally signed, as .xml.p7m files: a CAdES envelope that holds the XML and the signature. The viewer opens the envelope in your browser and shows the invoice, with no signing software to install. It reads binary and Base64 P7M files, including files signed twice. Download extracted XML saves the XML inside it, for software that cannot read P7M files. The signature itself is not verified: use signing software if you need that check.

Save the invoice as PDF

Press Print / Save as PDF and choose Save as PDF in the print dialog: only the invoice is printed. The PDF is a courtesy copy; the document with legal value stays the XML or .xml.p7m file you received. PDF files attached to the invoice, such as a courtesy copy, open in a new tab or download. On a phone, each line of the invoice shows as a block, so it stays readable.

What the viewer reads

It reads FPR12 invoices between private parties, FPA12 invoices to public bodies and FSM10 simplified invoices, several at once or from a ZIP. Codes such as TD01, RF19 or MP05 are shown with their official Italian description. Unknown codes stay visible as they are. Full data opens every field of the file. If a file is damaged, encrypted, or is an SdI receipt rather than an invoice, a message says so, with the technical details below it.

Are my invoices uploaded?

No. The file is read on your device, and VAT numbers, addresses and amounts never leave it, and nothing is kept once you close the tab. This free tool is made by XMLNest and is not affiliated with the Agenzia delle Entrate or the SdI.

Questions

How do I open a .xml.p7m invoice?

Drop it on this tool or choose it with Choose files. The signed envelope is opened in your browser and the invoice shows like any other, without signing software.

Can I convert the XML invoice to PDF?

Yes. Open the invoice, press Print / Save as PDF and choose Save as PDF in the print dialog.

Is the digital signature checked?

No. The tool takes the invoice out of the P7M envelope but does not check the certificate or the signature. Use signing software if you need that check.

Why are the codes in Italian?

The codes of the FatturaPA format, such as TD01 or MP05, are shown with their official Italian descriptions, the ones your Italian supplier and accountant use.

Is this an official tool?

No. It is a free tool made by XMLNest, with no link to the Agenzia delle Entrate or the SdI.
